Jamie Carragher defends his criticism of Liverpool striker on Twitter
The Liverpool legend refutes the suggestion that he slammed Daniel Sturridge after their EFL Cup exit
Jamie Carragher has taken to Twitter to refute the media’s claims that the Liverpool legend slammed Daniel Sturridge after their EFL Cup exit on Wednesday night.
The England international endured a tough 90 minutes as the 27-year-old spurned a number of clear cut chances to break the deadlock at Anfield before Southampton striker Shane Long netted an added-time winner in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final.
Carragher was critical of Sturridge’s performance in the 1-0 defeat as the Liverpool legend attempted to explain what is different about the England star after a series of career-stalling injuries since his move to Anfield in January 2013.
One media outlet quoted Carragher as saying that Liverpool were effectively playing with 10 men given Sturridge’s disappointing performance.
However, the Liverpool legend took issue with the headline as he posted the below tweet on social media in attempt to clarify his comments.
Think my point was a bit more constructive than that. https://t.co/wWGr21QXLS
