Jamie Carragher reacts to Wayne Rooney’s equaliser in Man United’s 1-1 draw at Stoke
The Liverpool legend was left to rue Wayne Rooney's late Manchester United equaliser
Jamie Carragher was left to rue a miserable weekend for Liverpool fans after Wayne Rooney scored a last-gasp equaliser for Manchester United in a 1-1 draw at Stoke City.
The Red Devils forward levelled the Premier League clash in the fourth minute of added time after David De Gea’s own goal broke the deadlock at the Britannia Stadium in the first half.
Rooney’s equaliser meant that the striker became Manchester United’s record goal-scorer after 250th strike and helped Jose Mourinho’s side move a point closer to third-placed Liverpool after a disappointing result at Anfield.
Liverpool lost 3-2 to Swansea City following Gylfi Sigurdsson’s 74th minute winner in Saturday’s early kick-off despite the home side fighting back from 2-0 down to offer hope of a late comeback at Anfield.
To compound a rubbish Saturday afternoon for Carragher, their Merseyside rivals Everton netted an 87th minute winner at Crystal Palace as Seamus Coleman sealed a 1-0 win.
Carragher took to Twitter to give his thoughts on the day’s Premier League action after Rooney and Coleman’s late goals.
Liverpool lose & Everton & United score late goals! This is not a Carlsberg weekend!!
