Jamie Carragher replies when asked if Tottenham can win the title

Jamie Carragher believes that Tottenham have a very good chance of winning the title this season

Jamie Carragher believes that Tottenham have a “great chance” of winning the Premier League title this season.

The Lilywhites have been one of the Premier League’s most consistent teams this season and are currently second in the table as the title race hots up.

Spurs earned plenty of praise as they became the first team to beat Chelsea in 13 games earlier this month, and the north London side are currently second in the table and seven points behind the leaders.

Tottenham were Leicester City’s closest challengers for the title for much of last season but ended up in third place behind the champions and Arsenal.

However, former Liverpool defender Carragher feels that Spurs are well placed to mount a serious title challenge this term in the second half of the season.

Asked about Tottenham’s title chances this season, Carragher told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football: “Great chance. From the contenders, Chelsea are the favourites of course.

“But Spurs went very close last year and I thought what did they lack last year? I think maybe a superstar. But the more you watch Eriksen, Alli and Kane, the more you’re thinking they are going to become superstars.

“Out of the chasing pack, they have as good a chance as anyone.”
