Jamie Carragher sends message to Man United striker

The former Liverpool defender congratulates Wayne Rooney on his incredible achievement

Jamie Carragher sent a message of congratulations to Wayne Rooney after the striker became Manchester United’s record goal-scorer on Saturday afternoon.

The England international scored his 250th goal in a Manchester United shirt to surpass Sir Bobby Charlton’s tally in a 1-1 draw at Stoke City.

The Red Devils moved a point closer to Carragher’s former club Liverpool in the top-four race thanks to Rooney’s equaliser after the Reds lost 3-2 to Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

However, the ex-England defender Carragher managed to cast his Liverpool loyalties aside and send a message to Rooney after the 31-year-old’s amazing feat.

Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils finished in fifth place in the top-flight table last term which led to Louis van Gaal’s sacking.
