Jamie Carragher: This is what Man United striker used to ask Thierry Henry
Jamie Carragher reveals that Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasn't always as confident
Jamie Carragher has lifted the lid on what Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic used to ask Thierry Henry during their time together at Barcelona.
The 34-year-old centre-forward has made an instant impact in the Premier League despite entering the twilight of his professional career ahead of his move to Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho signed the prolific striker in a free transfer from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the summer following his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
Ibrahimovic scored four times in his opening three games in all competitions, and while the veteran striker endured a disappointing spell in September and October, the towering Swedish man has netted 12 times in his last 12 outings.
Indeed, the former Barcelona man won the Premier League player of the month for December following his valuable contribution to Manchester United’s six-game winning run.
However, Carragher has claimed that Ibrahimovic wasn’t always as confident as the Manchester United striker now appears, revealing what the Swede’s former Barca team-mate Henry told the Liverpool legend about the centre-forward.
“Yet for all that brooding and self-belief, he has the same insecurities as all footballers and Thierry Henry told me that Zlatan used to ask: ‘What have they said about me?’ when he knew he had been discussed on television,” Carragher wrote in his Daily Mail column.
