Jamie Redknapp reacts to midfielder’s ‘elegant’ performance in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over West Brom
Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp heaps praise on Denmark international Christian Eriksen
Jamie Redknapp hailed Christian Eriksen’s elegant performance in Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-0 win against West Brom at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The Spurs midfielder teed up Harry Kane for his first goal in his hat-trick in north London after the Denmark international lofted a pass to the feet of the striker and the England international steered a finish past Ben Foster.
Eriksen played a key role in Tottenham’s second goal after Gareth McAuley deflected the attacking midfielder’s strike into his own net before Kane completed his hat-trick in the second half.
The former Ajax midfielder has scored five goals and has made six assists in his last 10 appearances in all competitions to kick-start his season after the playmaker was criticised for a subdued start to the 2016-17 campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports during Tottenham’s 4-0 win against West Brom on Saturday afternoon, Redknapp heaped praise on Eriksen for his stylish performance in Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield.
Discussing Eriksen’s role in Kane’s opening goal, Redknapp said:
“What I love most about this goal is the pass by Christian Eriksen. If he plays the ball along the floor, it doesn’t get there. McAuley might have deflected it away. He is in such a rich vein of form, he realises he has to lift the pass.”
Redknapp continued: “He has been so good in the first half, Christian Eriksen deserves that goal. He has been influential. He has been everywhere. He has been so elegant.”
Tottenham are seven points behind current leaders Chelsea.
