Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink delivers verdict on striker’s Chelsea situation

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has his say on Diego Costa's current situation at Chelsea

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that only the player himself can solve the problem of Diego Costa’s current situation at Chelsea.

The Spanish striker’s situation at Stamford Bridge has been in the headlines in recent days after he was left out of the Blues’ squad for their 3-0 win over Leicester City at the weekend.

There have been reports of a bust-up with coaching staff at Cobham but Costa was pictured in training with his team-mates this week ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Hull City on Sunday afternoon.

And former Chelsea star Hasselbaink feels that only Costa himself can solve the situation that the striker currently finds himself in.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday morning, Hasselbaink said: “I think Costa can only keep Costa happy.

“I don’t think that Chelsea are going to keep him happy. Costa is very important for Chelsea, don’t get me wrong.

“He needs to want to play football here.”

Chelsea head into their clash with Hull City flying high at the top of the Premier League table and having built a seven-point lead over second-placed Tottenham in the top flight.
