Jose Mourinho delivers January transfer update for Man United fans
Jose Mourinho insists that he will not look to dip into the January transfer market to sign a new defender for Manchester United
Jose Mourinho has insisted that he will not dip into the January transfer market to sign a new defender for Manchester United.
The Red Devils are inevitably set to be linked with a host of players in the mid-season transfer window as Mourinho ponders whether he wants to add to his squad this month.
Manchester United have been linked with a bid to sign Swedish defender Victor Lindelof in recent weeks.
Mourinho is currently without summer signing Eric Bailly after the defender headed to the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast.
However, the Portuguese coach issued a blunt response when asked whether he could dip into the transfer market to sign a defender this month.
Mourinho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “No, I wait for Bailly.
“I hope the three [Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling] can control the situation in those eight matches [without Bailly].”
Manchester United, who finished fifth last term, are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind leaders Chelsea after 20 games of the new season.
