Jose Mourinho delivers latest Man United injury update after FA Cup win
Jose Mourinho reveals that Manchester United are waiting to assess the extent of Marcos Rojo's injury
Jose Mourinho has revealed that Manchester United are waiting to assess the extent of Marcos Rojo’s injury after the defender was forced off in the first half of the Red Devils’ 4-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup third round.
The Argentina international has been a crucial part of the Manchester United defence in recent weeks and has helped the Red Devils notch up eight straight wins in all competitions.
Rojo picked up a suspected muscular strain during the game but Mourinho said that he would have to wait to understand the extent of the problem after the game.
Speaking to BT Sport after Saturday’s triumph, Mourinho said: “I don’t know [what the damage is]. We have to wait a little bit.
“A muscle is a muscle and you’re always afraid of it but let’s see what is going on.
“It would be so important for us to keep our central defenders fit for the month of January. But I prefer to wait. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones did a very good job for us.”
Manchester United are currently gearing up for their EFL Cup semi-final first-leg clash against Hull City on Tuesday night.
Rojo has earned plenty of praise for his displays for Manchester United in recent weeks and has made 12 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this term.
