Jose Mourinho delivers latest Man United January transfer update
Jose Mourinho comments on the January transfer window and his plans for Manchester United
Jose Mourinho has admitted that the January transfer window is a tricky time for him to strengthen his Manchester United squad and hinted that the bulk of the Red Devils’ business would be conducted in the summer.
Manchester United have inevitably been linked with a host of players in recent weeks as Mourinho ponders adding to his squad in the mid-season window.
However, despite all of the speculation, Manchester United are yet to sign any players this month.
The Red Devils have confirmed two exits this month, with Morgan Schneiderlin leaving Old Trafford to sign for Everton, and Memphis Depay departing to join French side Lyon.
And Mourinho has appeared to play down any chances of Manchester United bringing in any new players this month as he instead turns his attentions to the summer transfer window.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday, Mourinho said: “I always think that the best time is in the summer market, I always consider the January market as an emergency one where you can try to resolve some problems or give a little boost to the team for the rest of the season.
“It’s not an easy market, I have to admit that.”
Manchester United are looking to break back into the top four this season after their fifth-placed finish under Louis van Gaal last term.
