Jose Mourinho hints that Manchester United could be set to spend big in the summer transfer window
Jose Mourinho has hinted that Manchester United could be set for a spending spree in the summer transfer window after unloading their unwanted stars in January.
The Red Devils were one of the Premier League’s biggest spending clubs last summer as they signed Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly following Mourinho’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are inevitably being linked with a number of players this month but there is yet to be any official news about signings at Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
Now, Mourinho appears to have suggested that he is looking to properly bolster his squad in the summer months ahead of his second season in charge at the club.
Mourinho is quotes as saying by Metro: “I am convinced that in this winter market we will be sellers and not buyers.
“We want to raise pounds to attack in the summer, as we did this year with the contract of four players.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League table after 20 games.
