Jose Mourinho opens about how hard he is finding Man United challenge

The Manchester United manager warns their are no miracles in football

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is finding it tough to revive Manchester United’s fortunes despite his recent success.

The Red Devils booked their place in the FA Cup fifth round at the weekend thanks to a 4-0 win against Championship side Wigan Athletic following goals from Marouane Fellaini, Chris Smalling, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Bastian Schweinsteiger at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are also in the EFL Cup final after the 20-time English champions were 3-2 aggregate winners against Hull City in the semi-final last week.

The Manchester United outfit are well off the pace in the title race, though, with Mourinho’s side in sixth spot and trailing current leading Chelsea by a mammoth 14 points.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the challenge of managing Manchester United, Mourinho discussed just how difficult his task has been so far.

“There are no miracles in football,” Mourinho said. “When a team is in trouble for two, three, four years, it’s for some reason.

“When a team win titles, and in recent years (don’t) win titles, it’s for some reason.”

The Red Devils appointed Mourinho as their new manager last May following Louis van Gaal’s dismal spell in charge.

Manchester United were 2-1 winners against Leicester City in the Community Shield at the start of the season under Mourinho.
