Jose Mourinho reacts to Marcus Rashford’s display for Man United against Reading
Jose Mourinho admits that he has been pleased by Marcus Rashford's contribution at Manchester United in recent weeks
Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Marcus Rashford for his recent sparkling displays for Manchester United.
The 19-year-old forward has been in good form for the Red Devils in recent weeks and scored twice in the second half of Manchester United’s 4-0 FA Cup win over Reading at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Rashford has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the first team at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal last season, as he was rewarded for his fine form with a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2016.
The teenager also helped Manchester United notch up a 2-0 Premier League win over West Ham United last week and has been in good form in recent games.
And Mourinho was delighted by the teenager’s contribution on Saturday, as well as his other recent performances.
Mourinho told MUTV: “The goals for an attacking player are always nice.
“For his confidence it is important he scores these goals but we won against West Ham with his contribution, we won against Middlesbrough with his contribution, and he didn’t score goals.”
He added: “He’s quick and against these teams we know they play from the back and use the goalkeeper very much. You press and you can get things.”
Rashford will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Hull City in the EFL Cup semi-final clash on Tuesday.
