Jose Mourinho replies when asked if Man United will sign any players this month
Jose Mourinho plays down the chances of Manchester United making any signings in the January window
Jose Mourinho has played down the chances of Manchester United making any January signings.
The Red Devils are looking to break back into the top four of the Premier League this season following Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager last May.
Manchester United have inevitably been linked with a host of players this month as Mourinho ponders bolstering his squad during the mid-season transfer window.
However, the Portuguese coach appeared to indicate that he is not planning on adding new players to his squad this month.
Asked if he is expecting to sign players this month, Mourinho told his pre-match news conference on Friday: “For some positions, we are comfortable in numbers.
“We have lots of matches to play in the cups and we have accumulation of fixtures in April and May.
“Probably with some positions, we are going to have problems as we don’t have so many options but, in injury terms, we are being very successful.
“Hopefully until the end of the season, we won’t have problems and we’ll survive to have conditions to fight for the competitions we are in.”
Manchester United are looking to break back into the top four this season after the disappointment of their fifth-placed finish last term under Louis van Gaal.
The Red Devils won the FA Cup under the Dutchman last season in what turned out to be his final game in charge.
