Jose Mourinho reveals his January transfer plans to Man United fans
Jose Mourinho confirms that Manchester United are not looking to sign a striker in January
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United will not be looking to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils have been in better form in recent weeks after a slow start to their Premier League campaign under new boss Mourinho following his appointment back in May.
There is bound to be plenty of speculation linking Manchester United with a host of players now that the January transfer window is open.
However, Mourinho has moved to play down the chances of Manchester United bringing in a new striker this month.
Asked if he could sign a new striker in the January transfer window, Mourinho told a news conference on Friday: “No, we’re not going to do that.
We have Zlatan, we have Rooney, we have Rashford, we have Martial that can also be a number nine in a different style of football.
“We have a squad of, in this moment, 24 players. I know we have lots of competitions to play but where is the striker to come here with quality to be here, with quality to play for Manchester United, where is that striker that a club is available to let him come?
“That’s not something for the January market, that’s probably something for the summer but not for now.”
Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United back towards the top of English football.
The Red Devils finished fifth and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season before the Dutchman was sacked and replaced by Mourinho back in May.
