Jose Mourinho: This is what Anthony Martial must do to earn regular Man United place

The Manchester United manager has some advice for Anthony Martial

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Anthony Martial will start against Wigan Athletic but has warned the Manchester United striker not to waste his chance to shine in the first-team.

The France international was omitted from Mourinho’s squad for their trip to Stoke City last weekend as Martial took a trip to Paris while Wayne Rooney was becoming the club’s record goal-scorer.

Martial has struggled to tie down a regular starting spot in the Manchester United side this season since Mourinho took over the reins from Louis van Gaal last summer.

Indeed, the 21-year-old has scored two goals in 13 games in the Premier League, although four of those have come from the bench.

Speaking at his media conference, Mourinho explained what Martial has to do to convince the manager that he is worthy of a regular spot in the Manchester United starting line-up.

“Anthony will play on Sunday and if he plays magnificently, he will play against Hull in the next match – it’s simple,” Mourinho said.
