Jose Mourinho says he is really happy with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s performances in the Manchester United side despite his slow start to life at Old Trafford.
Mkhitaryan got on the score sheet in Manchester United’s 4-0 win against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Armenia international’s goal was his third since moving to Manchester United in a £30m deal from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window last year.
Mkhitaryan initially made a slow start to life at Old Trafford the attacking midfielder has flourished in recent months since securing a regular spot in Mourinho’s first team.
Speaking to the media about whether he was satisfied with Mkhitaryan’s start to life at Old Trafford, Mourinho said:
“Since he came into the team, we and Micki himself thought he was ready. He had a good impact immediately, then he had a break with the injury against Tottenham, and then he came back and played quite well, so we are happy with him.”
The Red Devils finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season under Louis van Gaal.
The 20-time English champions are currently in sixth place in the table and 14 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
