The Red Devils boss took over the reins at the 20-time English champions in the summer as Mourinho was tasked with reviving the club’s ailing fortunates both domestically and in Europe.
Mourinho added some experienced winners to his squad in the shape of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, while Eric Bailly bolstered their defence and Henrikh Mkhitaryan added much-needed flair to the manager’s midfield.
After a slow start to the 2016-17 season under Louis van Gaal’s replacement, Manchester United have started to find their stride under Mourinho following six successive Premier League victories.
Speaking to the club’s website, Mourinho explained what he finds really pleasing about his squad ahead of their home clash against bitter rivals Liverpool in their next Premier League game on 15 January.
“I like my players very, very much,” Mourinho said. “Not just the players, but the combinations between the players as people. They are very good guys and I love to work with them.
“I love my group so I’m really happy. And at the top of that is the challenge of bringing Manchester United Football Club to the space that it belongs. So I’m really happy.”
Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term.
