Juan Mata issues warning to Liverpool: Man United feeling strong and optimistic

Juan Mata gives an insight into the current mood in the Manchester United camp ahead of their clash against Liverpool

Juan Mata has warned Liverpool that Manchester United are feeling good ahead of their crunch Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have the small matter of the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Tuesday night when Hull City make the trip to Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho’s side eased into the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon thanks to a 4-0 victory over Reading thanks to goals from Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

The 20-time English champions have won their last eight games in all competitions which is their best winning run since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

Mourinho’s side were 2-0 winners against West Ham United at the London Stadium last week to leave Manchester United three points adrift of the top four.

Writing in his personal blog, Mata reflected on a positive festive schedule for the Red Devils ahead of the visit of Liverpool in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford.

“The second half of the season is on its way and we are feeling strong and optimistic, as a result of eight consecutive wins,” Mata said.

“As I keep saying here, the team has been playing well for quite some time. I was convinced that sooner or later we were going to have good results.”
