Juan Mata sends upbeat message to Man United fans

Juan Mata urges his Manchester United team-mates to take the positives from their 1-1 draw with Liverpool

Juan Mata has urged his Manchester United team-mates to take the positives from their 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford at the weekend.

The Red Devils came from a goal down to earn a point against their bitter local rivals when Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a late equaliser for Jose Mourinho’s men at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table as they prepare for their trip to Stoke City in the top flight this weekend.

And Mata was in a philosophical mood as he reflected on Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Writing in his personal blog, Mata said: “Perhaps we didn’t see the best football but it was a thrilling game full of rivalry.

“All we have to think about now is starting over and trying to win the next game. The team showed pride until the end, and Old Trafford fought with us, as always.

“It’s time to recover for the next weekend because the competition goes on.”

Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United back into the top four of the Premier League following his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor back in May.
