Jurgen Klopp gives latest Liverpool injury update on Jordan Henderson ahead of Sunderland clash
The Liverpool manager admits that Jordan Henderson appears to be in a lot of pain
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Jordan Henderson appeared to suffer a heel injury during Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Manchester City on New Year’s Eve.
The Liverpool captain was forced off in the second half of the Merseyside outfit’s victory over their title rivals with a suspected heel injury.
Divock Origi replaced the England international as Liverpool managed to see out three points thanks to Georginio Wijnaldum’s first-half header.
Henderson has been ever-present in the Liverpool side this season after starting all 19 of their Premier League fixtures so far.
However, the England man has less than 48 hours to recover in time for Liverpool’s trip to his former club Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Monday afternoon.
Speaking at his post-match media conference after Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s Citizens side on New Year’s Eve, Klopp provided an update on the severity of his captain’s injury.
“In this moment, it’s a little bit of pain in the heel,” Klopp said.
“If Hendo is limping, it is probably a little bit more pain. We have to see. We will see. We don’t know exactly in this moment.”
Liverpool are in second place in the Premier League table and six points behind leaders Chelsea.
