Jurgen Klopp makes claim about Jose Mourinho ahead of Man United v Liverpool
The Liverpool manager discusses what it is like coming up against Manchester United's Jose Mourinho
Jurgen Klopp has described Jose Mourinho as the most-competitive manager in world football ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
The Liverpool boss has a good record against Mourinho since taking over as the Merseyside outfit’s manager from Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015.
Klopp masterminded a 3-1 win against defending champions Chelsea a matter of weeks into his Liverpool reign that served to heap pressure on Mourinho.
Liverpool played out a goalless draw with Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League last October as Mourinho managed to tame Klopp’s attack.
The Reds boss pitted his wits against Mourinho during his spell in charge of Borussia Dortmund, famously beating Real Madrid over two legs in the Champions League semi-final to set up a Wembley meeting with Bayern Munich.
Speaking to Sky Sports during a Facebook Live session on Friday afternoon, Klopp admitted that he is doesn’t know a manager as competitive as Mourinho ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
“Jose is maybe the most competitive manager in world football. He is really hard to read. I don’t think he cares a lot about what anybody says after the game,” Klopp said.
“I don’t have an exact idea how Manchester United will play. We watch them a lot. They’ve improved a lot. They’re a results machine again.”
