Ex-midfielder issues Chelsea warning: Two things make me nervous about title bid
The former Chelsea midfielder names two things which could cause the west London side's title bid to unravel
Joe Cole admits there are two things that are making him nervous about Chelsea’s Premier League title bid.
The west London side edged a step closer to the Premier League crown on Sunday afternoon after a 2-0 win against strugglers Hull City at Stamford Bridge courtesy of goals from Diego Costa and Gary Cahill.
The Blues are eight points clear of their closest rivals Arsenal in second place after Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all lost ground on their title rivals.
Chelsea’s 13-game winning run came to an end earlier this month after a 2-0 defeat by title rivals Tottenham Hotspur before Costa missed the west London side’s 3-0 win against Leicester City following a reported fallout with manager Conte.
Speaking to CFC Fan TV, Cole admitted that he is worried about the threat posed by Tottenham in the title race and expressed his concerns that Chelsea could struggle if Costa picks up an injury in the closing months of the season.
“It’s still rosy. You’re stilling winning games. The only thing that would make me nervous as a Chelsea fan is if Diego Costa picked up a long-term injury,” Cole said.
“The other thing that makes me nervous is Tottenham look like a good team this year, which is bad news. It’s terrible to say. Chelsea are still a goof couple of gears ahead of Tottenham.”
