The Liverpool goalkeeper is looking forward to Wednesday night's EFL Cup clash under the lights at Anfield
Loris Karius says he is ready to take the pitch for Liverpool’s clash against Southampton at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The Merseyside outfit are looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final after Nathan Redmond scored a first-half winner at St Mary’s earlier this month.
Liverpool have made a disappointing start to 2017 so far after failing to win their three Premier League games this year following back-to-back stalemates with Sunderland and Manchester United before a 3-2 loss to Swansea City at Anfield last weekend.
Karius has been relegated to Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper but the 23-year-old helped the Merseyside club reach the FA Cup fourth round thanks to a 1-0 win against Plymouth Argyle in their replay at Home Park.
The German shot stopper was praised for limiting Southampton to one goal in the first leg after a number of crucial saves on the south coast.
Karius posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption ahead of the EFL Cup clash:
“Ready for tomorrow’s game under the Anfield lights! 👊🏼💥 #LIVSOU #EFLCup #YNWA #LK1 @liverpoolfc”
