Mark Lawrenson states bold prediction for Leicester v Chelsea
The former Liverpool defender is tipping Leicester City to subject Chelsea to successive Premier League defeats
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Leicester City to cause an upset against Premier League leaders Chelsea at King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.
The defending Premier League champions were 4-2 winners against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City over the festive period to bolster their chances of avoiding the drop less than 12 months after lifting the top-flight crown.
Chelsea are the favourites to take Leicester’s Premier League title this season after Antonio Conte’s men notched up 13 successive victories before their short trip to bitter rivals Tottenham last week.
Dele Alli scored either side of half-time to seal three points for the north London outfit in a 2-0 win against Chelsea and bring to an end the Blues’s impressive winning run.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson reckons Chelsea will endure back-to-back Premier League defeats at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.
“I just get the impression with Leicester that games like this get them going,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“There will be a big crowd, and a great atmosphere, just as there was when the Foxes beat Manchester City in December.
“I get the feeling there will be a similar result too, although I do not see Leicester putting four past Chelsea.”
Chelsea have lost to title rivals Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham so far this season.
The Blues were 4-0 winners against Leicester at Stamford Bridge in October.
