Paul Merson states prediction for Liverpool v Chelsea
The former Arsenal midfielder says he doesn't expect Chelsea to lose to Liverpool on Tuesday night
Paul Merson says he can’t see Chelsea losing to Liverpool at Anfield in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will host the Premier League leaders as the 18-time English champions look to make a return to winning ways in the English top flight.
Liverpool haven’t won a Premier League game since Georginio Wijnaldum scored a first-half winner in a 1-0 victory over title rivals Manchester City at Anfield on New Year’s Eve.
The Reds played out stalemates with Sunderland and Manchester United in their next two games on the road before a shock 3-2 loss to Premier League strugglers Swansea City last weekend.
Chelsea, on the other hand, showed character to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month and have won their last two Premier League games thanks to victories over Leicester and Hull City.
Liverpool are 10 points behind leaders Chelsea and Merson can’t see Klopp’s men springing a surprise against the west London outfit.
“Liverpool badly need a result against Chelsea. But I just can’t see Chelsea losing,” Merson told Daily Star.
“They only need a draw and then Liverpool will be doing them favours the rest of the season because they’ve still got to play most of Chelsea’s rivals.”
