Jan Molby states prediction for Liverpool v Plymouth

The former Liverpool midfielder is confident the Reds will book their place in the next round of the FA Cup

Jan Molby is confident Liverpool will beat Plymouth even if Jurgen Klopp makes wholesale changes for the FA Cup third-round clash at Anfield.

The Merseyside outfit haven’t lost a Premier League game since the start of December when Liverpool twice squandered a two-goal lead to lose 4-3 to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The Reds will entertain League Two side Plymouth as the 18-time English champions look to book their place in the fourth round ahead of their League Cup semi-final clash at Southampton next week.

Liverpool will be without vice-captain James Milner for the cup clash, while Philippe Coutinho and Joel Matip haven’t recovered from ankle injuries in time to feature against Plymouth.

Writing in his Liverpool Echo column, Molby issued his backing for the Merseyside outfit to beat Plymouth and progress in the competition.

“There will be wholesale changes against Plymouth Argyle, I’ve no doubt about that,” he said.

“As Liverpool you must feel that you’ve got two teams who can give Plymouth a game and being at home the manager will believe he can make changes and still expect to win.”

Liverpool will take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday 15 January.
