Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Liverpool v Swansea
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Liverpool's clash with Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Liverpool to return to winning ways in style by beating Swansea City 3-0 at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.
The Reds head into the game looking to bounce back from the disappointment of conceding a late equaliser against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
That result left Liverpool in third place in the Premier League table and seven points behind leaders Chelsea as they prepare to take on the Swans on Merseyside this weekend.
Liverpool are the firm favourites to beat the Premier League’s basement club at Anfield and Lawrenson is expecting to see Jurgen Klopp’s men claim a comfortable win.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Liverpool have lost some of their attacking lustre in recent weeks so it is important for them to have Philippe Coutinho back in action, and getting sharper with each game he plays.
“I just wonder if the Reds’ form has tailed off a bit because Jurgen Klopp has been changing his team around for various cup games – it might help if he sticks with a team that is going to play regularly for the next couple of weeks.
“Swansea have made a couple of signings since Paul Clement’s first game in charge – Saturday’s 4-0 home defeat by Arsenal.
“Norwich left-back Martin Olsson and Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll have both come in but Clement will need to do more than that to solve his side’s defensive issues.”
Liverpool booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday night with a 1-0 win over Plymouth in their third-round replay.
The Reds are third in the Premier League behind leaders Chelsea and second-placed Tottenham.
