Michael Owen states prediction for Liverpool v Wolves
The former Liverpool striker has warned Jurgen Klopp's side that patience will be required against Wolves
Michael Owen says Liverpool will need to be patient if Jurgen Klopp’s side are to find a way past Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.
The Reds have endured a tough start to 2017 after Klopp’s side managed to record one victory in seven games in all competitions in the Premier League, the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.
The 18-time English champions crashed out of the EFL Cup mid-week after a 1-0 loss to Southampton in the second leg of the semi-final clash condemned the hosts to a 2-0 aggregate defeat.
Liverpool are in fourth place in the Premier League table after back-to-back stalemates with Sunderland and Manchester United before a surprise 3-2 loss to Swansea City last weekend.
Wolves are in 18th place in the Championship table ahead of their fourth-round clash at Anfield in the FA Cup.
Writing in his BetVictor column, former Liverpool striker Owen was backing a low-scoring game at Anfield given the home side’s recent struggles.
“Liverpool need a good solid home win after their League Cup reverse midweek to Southampton especially with leaders Chelsea due at Anfield back in the Premier League on Tuesday night,” Owen said.
“There will be over 8,000 Wolves fans at Anfield cheering on Paul Lambert’s side who did gain a notable scalp in round three when they won at Stoke City and I think they will try and sit back and frustrate Jurgen Klopp’s side who may need to be patient.”
