Juan Mata states prediction for Man United v Hull

The Manchester United midfielder is the wary of the challenge that Hull City will pose in the EFL Cup

Juan Mata has warned Manchester United that Hull City will have extra motivation to beat Jose Mourinho’s side in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final.

The Tigers appointed Marco Silva as Mike Phelan’s replacement earlier this month after the former Manchester United number two left the Hull side in the relegation zone.

Silva managed to make a positive start to his Hull career after the Tigers were 2-0 winners against Swansea City to book their place in the fourth round of the competition.

Manchester United, meanwhile, were 4-0 winners against Reading after goals from Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial at Old Trafford.

But Mata isn’t taking Hull’s challenge lightly after their morale-boosting third-round win ahead of the Tigers’s trip to Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

“We are also focused on the EFL Cup and we play this Tuesday at home against Hull City,” Mata wrote in his personal blog One Hour Behind.

“Although they are at the bottom of the Premier League table, they’ve just won against Swansea in the FA Cup and I’m sure they will come to Old Trafford with an extra motivation to try to beat us.”

Mata has scored four goals and has scored two goals in 15 Premier League appearances in the current campaign.
