Rio Ferdinand trolls Jamie Carragher ahead of Man United v Liverpool

Rio Ferdinand remembers his sensational goal in Manchester United's 2-0 win against Liverpool in 2006

Rio Ferdinand couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Jamie Carragher as Manchester United prepare to renew their rivalry with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The former Manchester United defender had form when it came to scoring goals against Liverpool after Ferdinand netted a late winner in a 1-0 win against the Merseyside outfit at Old Trafford in 2006.

However, the ex-England defender netted against the 18-time English champions again just over eight months later when Ferdinand got on the end of Carragher’s poor clearance and placed a finish past Pepe Reina.

Liverpool have the advantage over the Red Devils in the title race, with Jurgen Klopp’s side in second place and five points ahead of sixth-placed Manchester United.

And when Manchester United posted a nostalgic video of that goal on their Twitter feed on Friday morning ahead of the north-west derby on Sunday afternoon, Ferdinand couldn’t resist sending Carragher a cheeky reminder.
