Jamie Carragher states his prediction for Man United v Liverpool
Jamie Carragher looks ahead to Manchester United's crunch clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday
Jamie Carragher has admitted that Manchester United are the favourites heading into this weekend’s crunch clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho’s men are preparing to host their bitter local rivals at Old Trafford in the Premier League as the Red Devils look to continue their fine form in the top flight.
Manchester United are currently five points behind Liverpool heading into the game but have been in good form in recent weeks, having won their last six games on the spin in the Premier League.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are aiming to bounce back to winning ways after the disappointment of their 2-2 draw with Sunderland last time out.
Carragher feels that Manchester United are the favourites to win the game, with the two sides having played out a goalless draw at Anfield earlier in the season.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Carragher said: “I think Manchester United are the favourites.
“Liverpool are not in the form they were in two or three weeks ago, while Manchester United are the in-form team in the league and are at home.
“I think whoever is at home would usually be classed as favourites when these two teams play each other.
“The momentum seems to be with United at the moment, but Liverpool need to come back and answer that with a performance.”
Liverpool finished eighth and without a trophy last season after Jurgen Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
