Paul Scholes states his prediction for Man United v Liverpool
Paul Scholes looks ahead to Manchester United's clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday
Paul Scholes is tipping Manchester United to beat Liverpool in Sunday’s Premier League showdown at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils head into the game as the favourites to claim victory as they prepare to welcome Jurgen Klopp’s men to their home ground.
Manchester United will need to pick up the three points to keep themselves in the title race after Chelsea pulled 13 points clear of the Red Devils with a 3-0 win at Leicester City on Saturday night.
However, Scholes feels that Jose Mourinho’s men will have too much for the Red Devils as they prepare to host the Reds at Old Trafford.
Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Scholes said: “It’s a big game for both teams, but ‘season-defining’, it’s a bit early for that.
“United have to win the game if they are to have any ambitions of winning the league. United have to finish in the top four this year.
“They’re looking really good at the minute, they’re looking like they will score goals.
“Liverpool, for the last couple of weeks, have looked little bit jaded. Their type of game they play isn’t suited to Old Trafford. It’s such a big pitch that you can find spaces.
“I just think Man United will have too much for them.”
Manchester United and Liverpool played out a disappointing goalless draw when the two teams last met at Anfield earlier in the season.
The Red Devils finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season under Louis van Gaal.
