Graeme Souness states prediction for Man United v Liverpool
Former Liverpool captain Graeme Souness expects a high-scoring game at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon
Graeme Souness is expecting a high-scoring Premier League game between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils will be hoping to record a tenth successive win in all competitions after beating West Ham United, Reading and Hull City over the past week.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have failed to win their last three games following stalemates with Sunderland in the Premier League and Plymouth in the FA Cup.
Jose Mourinho’s side managed to tame Liverpool’s free-scoring attack earlier this season after securing a point in a goalless stalemate at Anfield in October.
The Reds are the Premier League’s leading goal-scorers after a return of 48 goals in 20 games in the English top flight, which is 17 more than Manchester United.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the north-west derby on Sunday afternoon, former Liverpool captain delivered his thoughts on the big Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
“There are so many good players on the pitch. United have an obligation to go on the front foot, they won’t go and play the same way they did at Anfield earlier in the season,” Souness said.
“And Liverpool only play one way, they try to get on the front foot, stay there and out-score you, so I would expect goals.”
Liverpool are in third place and five points ahead of Manchester United.
