Jamie Redknapp makes prediction about Simon Mignolet for Man United v Liverpool
The former Liverpool midfielder is tipping Simon Mignolet to return to Jurgen Klopp's line-up at Manchester United on Sunday
Jamie Redknapp is confident that Simon Mignolet will be restored to the Liverpool starting line-up for their trip to Manchester United on Sunday.
The Merseyside outfit have started with Loris Karius in their last two games in all competitions as Jurgen Klopp gave his summer signing a chance to bounce back from being dropped following a 2-2 draw with West Ham United last month.
Karius managed to keep a clean sheet in Liverpool’s goalless draw with League Two side Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup third round at Anfield on Sunday afternoon before the shot stopper received a more rigorous examination at Southampton.
The German goalkeeper produced a number of saves to limit Southampton to a 1-0 win against the Reds in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final at St Mary’s, with Nathan Redmond scoring a first-half winner on the south coast.
Liverpool will return to action against Manchester United in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Asked whether he expects Mignolet to come back into the side at the Red Devils despite Karius’s positive performance, Redknapp said:
“I’d be amazed if Mignolet doesn’t start.”
