Jamie Redknapp states prediction for Man United v Liverpool

The former Liverpool midfielder is backing Manchester United to emerge victorious at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon

Jamie Redknapp is backing Manchester United to edge to victory over their bitter rivals Liverpool in the title race at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have been in excellent form over the past couple of months after a nine-game winning run in all competitions to bolster their top-four prospects under Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United started with a 1-0 win against top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur in November before racking up six successive Premier League victories ahead of the visit of Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side, on the other hand, have failed to win their last three games in all competitions following stalemates with Sunderland and Plymouth before a 1-0 loss to Southampton in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, Redknapp backed Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to help get Manchester United over the line against their bitter rivals Liverpool.

“Liverpool have had a good run of results in away games against the Premier League’s big teams but United have got their tails up. With Mkhitaryan, Pogba and Ibrahimovic in such excellent form, I think they might just edge it,” Redknapp said.
