Ander Herrera states his prediction for Man United v Reading
Ander Herrera warns that his Manchester United team-mates must show respect to Reading on Saturday
Ander Herrera has warned his Manchester United team-mates that they must show respect to Reading in Saturday’s FA Cup third-round clash at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are currently preparing for their first game in the defence of their FA Cup crown as they look to beat the Championship side and take a step closer towards retaining the title.
Manchester United have been in good form in the Premier League in recent weeks and made it six wins on the spin when they beat West Ham United 2-0 at the London Stadium on Monday night.
The Red Devils had initially struggled to adapt under new boss Jose Mourinho but they now look to have found their feet after a shaky start.
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season under Louis van Gaal.
And Herrera has warned his team-mates that they must be at their best when they host Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday at Old Trafford.
Speaking to MUTV, Herrera said: “I have already played against Championship teams at home.
“Middlesbrough beat us [in the EFL Cup] last season, for example, so we have to respect Reading. It’s a big day for them, they come with, to be honest, nothing to lose and that makes them even more dangerous.
“But, we are United, we have to fight for every trophy and at home against Reading we have the obligation to try to win, to score goals and to get to the next round. They are a strong team and are high in the table so it will be difficult, but it’s a big tournament for us and we want to get to the next round.
“Jaap Stam was an important player for this club and now he manages Reading so he will know how to motivate his players, which means they will be dangerous.”
