Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Swansea v Arsenal
The former Liverpool defender is confident Arsenal will ease to a straightforward victory over Swansea City on Sunday
Mark Lawrenson is confident that Arsenal will beat Swansea City in a straightforward victory at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners have failed to win their last three Premier League games on the road following back-to-back 2-1 losses to Everton and Manchester City in December.
Arsenal appeared to be heading for a 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth in their last away game in the league before goals from Alexis Sanchez, Lucas Perez and Olivier Giroud to rescue a 3-3 draw at the Vitality Stadium.
Arsenal dropped out of the Premier League’s top four after Tottenham Hotspur were 2-0 winners against Chelsea and hoisted themselves above their north London rivals into third place in the table.
Ex-Liverpool defender Lawrenson doesn’t expect Arsenal to falter against Swansea on Saturday afternoon despite the Welsh club’s appointment of Paul Clement earlier this month.
“Swansea are one of the teams fighting relegation who are looking to sign players,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“Their new manager Paul Clement has come in with different ideas and a fresh voice, which are both positives, but at the moment he has the same squad that has been struggling all season.
“Arsenal had to fight back to get a draw at Bournemouth in their last league game and also came from a goal down to beat Preston in the FA Cup, but I think this victory will be far more straightforward.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table and 10 points adrift of eventual champions Leicester City.
The Gunners signed five players in the summer transfer window.
