Mesut Ozil must improve this for Arsenal, admits Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger wants to see Mesut Ozil improve his finishing for Arsenal in the coming weeks and months

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he wants to see Mesut Ozil improve his finishing for Arsenal this season.

The Germany playmaker has been a regular fixture in the Gunners’ starting line-up this term and scored his first career hat-trick against Ludogorets in the Champions League.

However, Wenger feels that there is still plenty more to come from Ozil on a goal-scoring front, because the 28-year-old’s finishing in training is currently better than what he produces on the pitch for the Gunners.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website ahead of Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace at The Emirates, Wenger said: “I still think there is a gap between his potential finishing and the way he finishes.

“In training he finishes much better than in the games and I am convinced that his percentage of finishing will go up in the coming months and he can have a huge contribution to the team, not only through his passing but as well through his finishing.”

Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 and has earned a reputation as one of the the Premier League’s top playmakers.

The World Cup winner helped Arsenal to lift the Premier League trophy in 2014 and 2015 but was forced to end the campaign without any silverware last term as the Gunners finished second in the Premier League.
