Mesut Ozil has revealed that he wants to switch to the number 10 shirt at Arsenal.

The number is currently free at The Emirates after current holder Jack Wilshere left the north London club on a season-long loan deal to Bournemouth.

Ozil is a big fan of that particular shirt number, and it features in his social media username – @m10_official.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners would be willing to strip Wilshere of the number and hand it to Ozil.

But the Germany playmaker has confirmed that he would like to take the number if it becomes available.

Ozil told Kicker, as quoted by Metro: “Since Wilshere’s departure last summer, the number is free, but I have yet to get it.”

Ozil is believed to be in talks with Arsenal about the possibility of extending his current contract at The Emirates beyond the summer of 2018.

The Germany playmaker is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal in 2017 after suffering from a bout of flu over the festive period in the Premier League.

Arsenal will hope to have him back available for the Premier League trip to Swansea on Saturday.
