Michael Owen: Why this player will score for Liverpool v Plymouth
Michael Owen looks ahead to Liverpool's clash with Plymouth in the FA Cup third round on Sunday
Michael Owen is tipping Divock Origi to fire Liverpool to victory over Plymouth Argyle in the third round of the FA Cup at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds are preparing to host Plymouth on Merseyside as Jurgen Klopp’s men look to kick off their FA Cup campaign with a win.
Liverpool have been one of the Premier League’s most impressive teams this season and the Reds currently sit in second place in the table and five points behind leaders Chelsea.
Klopp’s side do not have the distraction of European football this season and are purely focused on domestic affairs as they look to break back into the Premier League’s top four.
Owen is expecting to see Belgium international Origi lead the line for Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and is tipping the striker to find the net for the Reds.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Liverpool will have been pleased with the result at White Hart Lane in midweek which breathed new life into the title race, and they will be as professional as ever when they entertain Plymouth at Anfield on Sunday.
“The Reds travel to Southampton midweek in the League Cup and are missing Sadio Mane (AFCON) and probably Daniel Sturridge (injury) but Divock Origi is likely to be back to lead the line and he can grab the opening goal in the first meeting between the sides in 55 years.”
Liverpool drew 2-2 with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last week.
