Midfielder: Why I want to say thank you to Man United fans

Jesse Lingard has thanks the Manchester United supporters for helping to get Jose Mourinho's over the line in EFL Cup semi-final

Jesse Lingard has paid credit to the travelling Manchester United supporters after Jose Mourinho’s side secured their place in the EFL Cup final on Thursday night.

The 20-time English champions headed into the second leg in a commanding position after a 2-0 win against Hull City at Old Trafford thanks to second-half goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini.

However, the Red Devils conceded a penalty in the first half at the KCOM Stadium after Argentina international Marcos Rojo was punished for holding the shirt of Harry Maguire in David De Gea’s area.

France international Paul Pogba came off the bench to equalise with a close-range finish before Oumar Naisse netted a late winner to leave Hull one goal shy of forcing extra time.

The Manchester United fans were in good voice throughout the clash despite Mourinho’s men losing on the night.

And Lingard took to his Instagram page to pay tribute to their incredible support during the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final.

“Wembley? Dat Way ☝🏾🔝. Thanks To The Travelling Fans Who Never Stopped Singing 🎶🗣👏🏾 #manchesterunited #adidas #wembley”
