Nigel Winterburn makes confident prediction about Arsenal and top four
The former Arsenal defender believes the north London side will still finish in the Premier League's top four
Nigel Winterburn is confident that Arsenal have the quality to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season despite their recent slump.
The Gunners have endured a tough four weeks in the Premier League to leave Arsenal outside of the top four after Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win against leaders Chelsea.
Arsenal suffered back-to-back defeats on the road in the Premier League after the north London outfit lost 2-1 to Everton and Manchester City before Christmas Day.
The Gunners bounced back with victories over West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace to seemingly kick-start their Premier League title bid.
Arsene Wenger’s side were trailing 3-0 to Bournemouth after 57 minutes on the south coast on Tuesday night before Arsenal came back to rescue a 3-3 draw.
Former Arsenal defender Winterburn is confident that the north London side will still finish in the Champions League places despite their inconsistent form.
“The top four will be consistency and winning runs over the course of the season. Not just the odd game here and there,” Winterburn told Sky Sports News HQ.
“Arsenal’s history tells you they will finish in the top four. I still think they have the quality to finish in the top four.”
Arsenal will take on Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in their Champions League last-16 clash next month.
