Paul Merson: What I like most about what Jose Mourinho has done at Man United

Paul Merson has praised Jose Mourinho for bringing back “Fergie time” at Manchester United.
The Red Devils appointed Mourinho as their new manager after Louis van Gaal could only guide the 20-time English champions to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League last term.
The ex-Chelsea boss initially made a slow start to his Manchester United reign that featured a run of two victories in 12 Premier League games before the Red Devils turned the corner under Mourinho.
Indeed, the Manchester United have won their last nine games in all competitions to build vital momentum in the Premier League ahead of the second half of the 2016-17 season.
The Red Devils managed to avoid a premature end to their winning run with late goals to secure a 2-1 comeback against Sunderland over the festive period, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted a late winner at Crystal Palace.
Writing in his Daily Star column, Merson praised Mourinho for embracing Sir Alex Ferguson’s gung-ho philosophy in the final minutes of Premier League games with the result in the balance.
“Jose Mourinho has got them clicking. I think it took him too long to work out his best side and how he wanted them to play,” Merson said.
“But he knows his best team now and the players are performing. What I like most is that he’s brought back Fergie time.
“He has the bottle to gamble at the end of games and go all-out for the win like Sir Alex Ferguson used to.
“If they’re losing the game he’s going to change it knowing they could either win 2-1 or lose 3-0. That’s what United are all about.”
