Petr Cech reacts to Danny Welbeck’s display in Arsenal’s 5-0 win at Southampton on Twitter

The Arsenal goalkeeper singles out Danny Welbeck for praise after his performance at Southampton

Petr Cech hailed Danny Welbeck’s performance in Arsenal’s 5-0 win against Southampton in the FA Cup at St Mary’s on Saturday evening.

The England international was starting his first game of the season on the south coast after his return from a serious knee injury that he picked up at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

And Welbeck required a mere 15 minutes to break the deadlock against the EFL Cup finalists before the former Manchester United striker added a second seven minutes later.

Ex-Southampton striker Theo Walcott scored either side of half-time before completing his hat-trick in the 84th minute to secure the north London side’s place in the FA Cup fifth round.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper and Arsenal number one Cech took to Twitter to praise Welbeck upon his return to the Gunners side.

Arsenal are in second place in the Premier League table and eight points behind current leaders Chelsea.

The Gunners will host Watford in their next top-flight fixture before the north London club make the trip to leaders Chelsea.
