Philippe Coutinho: What I really think of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

The Liverpool midfielder hails Jurgen Klopp ahead of Chelsea clash

Philippe Coutinho has reiterated that the Liverpool midfielder and his team-mates believe Jurgen Klopp is the right manager to guide the Reds to silverware.

Liverpool have endured a forgettable start to 2017 after a run of one win in eight games in all competitions so far this year to leave the Reds out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup.

The Merseyside outfit haven’t won a Premier League game in the calendar year so far following stalemates with Sunderland and Manchester United before a surprise 3-2 loss to relegation candidates Swansea City last weekend.

Liverpool will host Premier League leaders Chelsea in their next top-flight fixture at Anfield on Tuesday night as Klopp’s side looked to close the 10-point gap between the two sides in the title race.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the Liverpool manager ahead of their top-of-the-table clash, Coutinho issued his backing for Klopp.

“I would like to say it is not about one week, no matter how bad that is, it is about the future with this squad,” Coutinho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“Yes, it has been a bad week, but we are looking beyond that. Of course we believe we can win titles under this manager – we are confident that will happen – and I signed because the manager is a winner.

“I believe in what he does and everyone inside the dressing room believes he will take this team to titles; that is why I signed a new contract and that is what we want to do.”

Liverpool are in fourth place in the Premier League table and eight points behind current leaders Chelsea.
