The Liverpool midfielder heaps praise on Trent Alexander Arnold after his debut at Old Trafford
Adam Lallana hailed Trent Alexander Arnold’s performance in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp opted to start with 18-year-old Alexander Arnold at right-back in the absence of first-choice defender Nathaniel Clyne due to a hip injury.
The England Under-18 international was tasked with keeping tabs on France forward Anthony Martial and the teenager acquitted himself well.
Vice-captain James Milner broke the deadlock from the penalty spot after Paul Pogba’s handball in the first half before Zlatan Ibrahimovic levelled with a header with six minutes remaining.
Lallana took to his Instagram page to single out Alexander Arnold for a special performance at Old Trafford after Liverpool’s valiant point against Manchester United.
Lallana wrote on the photo-sharing app:
“Very tough game today but proud of the team 👊🏻👊🏻congrats Trent on your full debut superb performance 🔥”
The England midfielder has scored seven goals and has made seven assists in 18 appearances in the Premier League this season.
Liverpool signed Lallana in a £25m deal from Southampton in the 2014 summer transfer window under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
