Per Mertesacker entertains Denver Nuggets duo Will Barton and Kenneth Faried at The Emirates on Tuesday night

Per Mertesacker gave Denver Nuggets duo Will Barton and Kenneth Faried a tour of the Emirates Stadium as the Arsenal defender indulged in his NBA obsession on Tuesday night.

The former Germany defender is one of the tallest players in the Arsenal squad standing at 6ft 6ins but has spent most of the season sidelined with a knee injury.

According to reports in the British media, Arsenal are preparing to send the defender out on loan after Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi established themselves as Arsene Wenger’s first-choice centre-half pairing.

Mertesacker picked up a serious knee injury in the summer but the former Werder Bremen star has been struggling with a calf injury in recent months.

The Arsenal captain appeared to be in good form on Tuesday night, though, as he entertained two stars of NBA franchise Denver Nuggets.

Arsenal are in fifth place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of leaders Chelsea after 20 games.
