The Manchester United midfielder is keeping in high spirits despite struggling to secure regular first-team football
Bastian Schweinsteiger appears to be staying in high spirits despite the Manchester United midfielder’s lack of playing time at Old Trafford.
The former Germany international has found his first-team opportunities limited since the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May.
Schweinsteiger was signed in a £6.7m deal from Bayern Munich in the 2015 summer transfer window while Van Gaal was in charge at Old Trafford.
However, Mourinho has preferred Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini in midfield for most of the 2016-17 season so far.
Schweinsteiger was initially sent to train with the club’s Under-23 side but Mourinho brought the experienced midfielder back into his first-team squad in November.
And the 31-year-old has made a couple of appearances in the League Cup to get some valuable minutes under his belt.
Schweinsteiger, though, isn’t letting his lack of playing time get him down as he posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption on the photo-sharing app:
“Greetings from Manchester!”
