Bastian Schweinsteiger reveals his delight at helping Manchester United reach the fourth round of the FA Cup

Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to social media to thank Manchester United fans for their support after his substitute appearance in Saturday’s 4-0 FA Cup win over Reading at Old Trafford.

The 32-year-old came off the bench to play the final 12 minutes at Old Trafford as the Red Devils booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable win over the Championship side.

Schweinsteiger has found his first team opportunities few and far between at Manchester United this season, prompting reports that the German could be set to leave Old Trafford in search of regular football.

Indeed, his cameo performance on Saturday was only the World Cup winner’s second appearance in all competitions for Manchester United this season.

However, the former Germany international was clearly thrilled to get some game-time for the Red Devils at at Old Trafford this weekend.

Schweinsteiger posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account after the game and wrote the caption: “An important win for reaching the next round of the FA Cup. Great game from the entire team and fantastic support from our fans! #mufc”
